The Dominican resort of Cabarete is THE place for a great windsurfing vacation or for experiencing some of the best kiteboarding opportunities of your life!
A consistent wind perfect for filling a windsurfer's sails, and lifting surf kites is one aspect of Cabarete beach that makes it ideal for kiteboarding and windsurfing 'beach-bums'.
In fact it wasn't until around twenty years ago that Cabarete town really existed. This was when the world renowned windsurfer Jean Laporte discovered that the place offered naturally occurring conditions ideal for the sport.

Cabarete as a resort has effectively built up along a kilometer stretch of coast road that is sandwiched between Cabarete beach (Playa Cabarete) and a large lagoon (Cabarete laguna).
There is a good selection of bustling bars and restaurants as well as various suppliers of windsurfing boards and kiteboarding and windsurfing equipment. You'll also find a selection of good water sports schools to choose from -- if you decide you too want to feel the 'rush' that skimming the waves before flying 20 or 30 feet into the air gives you!

SUN, SAND, SEA, SURF AND STAYING UP!
Attracted by the opportunity to let their hair down on a wet and wild water-sport holiday, the generally younger set of tourists on Cabarete beach also ensure that the partying rarely stops. Cabarete remains a lively resort throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning.
The whole range of vacation accommodation of all types is now available in and around Cabarete, the majority of which has been developed over the last 15 years. In recent times all-inclusive operations have brought another 'type' of tourist into the area.

The contrasting groups of holiday-makers, that Cabarete plays host to, ensure that this dynamic resort continues to thrive throughout the year.
So if you are looking for a lively holiday or are just for the best kiteboarding or windsurfing vacation Caberete is a great choice. Especially if you are not too concerned about having to travel out and about to see the 'real' Dominican Republic.
Plus you could always take a trip along the coast towards the Samana Peninsula and check out some of the unspoilt scenery and the typically tropical beaches around Las Terrenas and Las Galeras or even visit Samana Town if you're visiting during the Whale Watching season, on a day out by local transport, hired car or taxi.
